A Natural Jewelry Tarnish Removal Formula

Tarnish-Busting Formula

1. Choose a plastic or glass (never metal) pan that is deep enough so that when filled with water your tarnished jewelry will be covered.
2. Put a piece of aluminum foil in the bottom of the pan.
3. Pour near-boiling water into the pan. (✩ use warm water if cleaning permanent jewelry).
4. Add a couple tablespoons of baking soda to the water.
5. Place the tarnished jewelry onto the piece of aluminum.
6. If necessary, add more baking soda to the dish until you see the tarnish coming off your piece. You should get a slight bubbling effect with an odd odor.

This method really works! I found I needed to take a soft toothbrush to some of the metal beads to get the tarnish completely off, just a slight brushing worked. Never try it with a piece strung on silk, cotton, or nylon thread because of the hot water, it'll make them shrink and discolor the thread.  But it went perfectly for this bracelet made of sterling silver, freshwater pearls, and crystals strung on beading wire. If you're cleaning a necklace or bracelet and it has stones that you're not sure how they'll react to this cleaning method, test an area in which it won't be noticeable first to make sure.

✩ ✩ ✩ This method is also great for cleaning your permanent jewelry. You can safely submerge your wrist by using warm water rather than hot water to clean your bracelets.

For our 4th of July celebration desert I decided to make something S'more.  I found this amazing recipe online via Pinterest/Tasty Kitchen.

The recipe was really easy to make and tastes out of this world, hope you like it!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 stick Softened Butter
  • ½ cups White Sugar
  • 1 cup Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1 whole Egg
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • 1 cup Graham Cracker Crumbs
  • 7 ounces, weight Container Of Marshmallow Creme
  • 8 whole {1.55 Oz} Hershey’s Chocolate Bars
  • 1 cup Marshmallows
  • ¼ cups Chocolate Chips

Preheat oven to 350° and spray a 9″ pie pan with baking spray.
Beat butter and sugar together until combined, then add egg and vanilla.
Stir in flour, graham cracker crumbs and baking powder. Divide the dough in half. Press half the dough in the bottom and up the sides of the prepared pie pan.
Evenly spread the Marshmallow Creme over the bottom crust
Separate chocolate squares and place on top of the Marshmallow Creme.
paper. Place 1 cup of full sized marshmallows on top.
Using remaining crust, pat sections of dough on top of and around all the marshmallows. {they will still show through and that is GREAT!}
Sprinkle with 1/4 cup chocolate chips, then bake 20 minutes until lightly browned.
Cool COMPLETELY before cutting, or you will have a gooey mess that looks nothing like a piece of pie.

December Birthstones

Blue Topaz and Tanzanite

Blue Topaz

The vibrant blue of the blue topaz makes it a good choice to complement almost any color wardrobe. There are many shades of blue topaz, with the most common being the sky, Swiss, and London blues.

Legend states the Romans believed that it could improve eyesight, while the Greeks believed it could make the wearer invisible in times of trouble.

Tanzanite

Tanzanite was discovered in 1967 in Tanzania. It quickly rose in popularity due to its exotic velvety blue color with purple overtones. This beautiful gem was added as another choice for December's birthstone in 2002 by the American Gem Trade Association (AGTA).
